The Masai Mara is one of Kenya’s most spectacular wildlife destinations and is world-famous for the annual Great Migration. During July, August and September, millions of wildebeest and large herds of zebras, gazelles and antelopes move from the Serengeti towards the Masai Mara in search of fresh grazing and water.

During December and January, the migration follows the reverse route.

These periods offer some of the most remarkable wildlife experiences in the Masai Mara. You may witness huge herds crossing rivers, crocodiles waiting in the water, big cats hunting across the plains, and hyenas and vultures gathering around the remains of animals.

It is an extraordinary spectacle and one of the most unforgettable experiences you can have on a Kenya safari.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: Malindi to Masai Mara

Departure from your resort at approximately 7:30 AM, heading to Malindi Airport.

At approximately 8:30 AM, we board the flight to the Masai Mara. The journey takes around 2 hours, giving you the opportunity to enjoy spectacular aerial views of the African savannah and the changing landscapes below.

Upon arrival, you will board the safari Jeep and begin your first Masai Mara game drive.

The game drive continues until approximately 1:30 PM, when we arrive at your selected lodge or tented camp for lunch and relaxation.

At approximately 3:30 PM, we head back into the reserve for another game drive, continuing until sunset.

After the evening game drive, we return to the lodge or tented camp for buffet dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 2: Full-Day Masai Mara Safari

Wake up at approximately 6:00 AM and set off for an early morning game drive.

The early hours around sunrise are an excellent time to explore the Masai Mara, as many animals are active during the cooler parts of the day. It is also a great opportunity to observe predators as they hunt or return from their nighttime activities.

At approximately 1:00 PM, we stop in the middle of the savannah for a packed lunch beside the Mara River.

Enjoy some time to relax and take in the surroundings before continuing with another game drive.

The afternoon safari continues until sunset, after which we return to the lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Overnight: Selected lodge or tented camp in the Masai Mara.

DAY 3: Final Game Drive and Return to Malindi

Breakfast is served at approximately 6:00 AM, followed by your final Masai Mara game drive.

Enjoy one last opportunity to explore the reserve and photograph its wildlife before returning to the lodge or tented camp.

At approximately 12:30 PM, we return to the accommodation for lunch.

After lunch, we make our way to the airport for the return flight.

At approximately 2:00 PM, we depart by air for Malindi.

We expect to arrive back in Watamu at approximately 5:00 PM.
