This itinerary brings together Kenya’s famous wildlife reserves, spectacular landscapes and some of the country’s most memorable safari experiences. From the open plains of the Masai Mara and the rhinos and flamingos of Lake Nakuru to the peaceful waters of Lake Naivasha, the dramatic views of Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli and the vast wilderness of Tsavo, every day offers a different side of Kenya.

The journey also includes the opportunity to experience Mzima Springs in Tsavo West and an exciting night safari in Taita Hills accompanied by a ranger.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara

Depart in the morning from Nairobi Airport or your hotel and travel towards the famous Masai Mara National Reserve.

Around lunchtime, arrive in Narok, a welcoming provincial town and the main gateway to the Masai Mara, where you will stop for lunch.

After lunch, continue towards the Masai Mara and begin your first game drive, exploring the reserve until sunset.

Return to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 2: Full-Day Masai Mara Safari

Depart at 6:30 AM after breakfast for a full day of game viewing in the Masai Mara.

Enjoy an extensive game drive through the reserve, with a stop for a packed lunch box in the savannah.

Continue exploring the reserve throughout the afternoon before returning after sunset.

Dinner and overnight accommodation at the lodge or tented camp.

DAY 3: Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru

Depart at 6:30 AM after breakfast and travel towards Lake Nakuru.

Arrive at approximately 12:00 PM and proceed directly to your lodge for lunch and some time to relax.

At 3:30 PM, head out for an afternoon game drive around Lake Nakuru, renowned for its rhinos and large numbers of pink flamingos.

Continue the safari until sunset, then return to the lodge.

Dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 4: Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, leave Lake Nakuru and continue towards the beautiful Lake Naivasha.

Lake Naivasha offers a completely different atmosphere from the surrounding safari parks, with its freshwater lake, open landscapes and abundant birdlife.

Arrive at your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, enjoy time around the lake and take in the peaceful surroundings before returning to the lodge.

Dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 5: Lake Naivasha – Amboseli

After breakfast, depart for Amboseli National Park.

Continue south towards one of Kenya’s most iconic wildlife destinations, famous for its large elephant populations and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Arrive at your lodge or tented camp at approximately 1:00 PM for lunch and relaxation.

At 3:30 PM, head out for an afternoon game drive.

Explore Amboseli until sunset, enjoying the wildlife and dramatic scenery of the park.

Return to the lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 6: Amboseli – Tsavo West

Depart at 6:30 AM after breakfast for your final morning game drive in Amboseli.

Continue your safari until approximately 8:30 AM, then leave Amboseli and travel towards Tsavo West National Park.

Tsavo West is characterised by rugged landscapes, mountains, lakes and rivers and is home to a wide variety of wildlife.

Arrive at approximately 10:30 AM and begin your game drive.

Continue exploring the park until approximately 1:00 PM, then proceed to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

At 4:00 PM, set out for another afternoon game drive until sunset.

During the safari, there may also be an opportunity to visit Mzima Springs, known for its hippos, crocodiles and other aquatic wildlife.

Return to the lodge after sunset.

Dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 7: Tsavo West – Taita Hills

Depart at 6:30 AM after breakfast for a final morning game drive through Tsavo West.

Continue exploring the park before travelling towards Taita Hills, where you will have the opportunity to experience the African bush after dark.

Arrive at the Taita Hills reserve at approximately 11:00 AM and begin your game drive.

Continue until approximately 1:00 PM, then arrive at your lodge built on stilts for lunch and relaxation.

At 4:00 PM, head out for another afternoon game drive until sunset.

Return to the lodge for dinner.

At 8:30 PM, begin your night safari accompanied by a ranger.

The reserve takes on a completely different character after dark, offering the opportunity to observe nocturnal animals and witness wildlife activity that is rarely seen during daytime game drives.

At approximately 10:30 PM, return to the lodge for overnight accommodation.

DAY 8: Taita Hills – Tsavo East

Depart at 6:30 AM for another morning game drive in Taita Hills.

Continue your safari until approximately 11:00 AM, then leave Taita Hills and travel towards Tsavo East National Park, the largest national park in Kenya.

Arrive at approximately 11:40 AM and begin your game drive, continuing until around 1:00 PM.

Proceed to your lodge or tented camp for lunch and relaxation.

The accommodation is located near a waterhole where animals come to drink, offering an excellent opportunity to observe wildlife close to the lodge.

At 4:00 PM, head out for an afternoon game drive through Tsavo East until sunset.

Return to the lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 9: Tsavo East – Watamu / Malindi / Mombasa

Depart at 6:30 AM after breakfast for your final morning game drive.

Enjoy one last safari through Tsavo East until approximately 10:00 AM, then leave the park.

Continue towards Watamu, Malindi or Mombasa, with arrival expected around lunchtime.

Your 9-day Kenya safari comes to an end as you arrive at your chosen coastal destination.
